πŸ’· What Does It Cost?

The Trust relies entirely on donations to operate. Where possible, we suggest a donation of Β£180 for a day trip for up to 12 people. If you are able to give a little more, we would be truly grateful. For smaller parties or shorter trips, there is some flexibility on the amount.

We also encourage Gift Aid authorisation where appropriate β€” it costs you nothing extra but can make a meaningful difference to the Trust’s income.

β™Ώ Lady Winifred’s Facilities

Lady Winifred has been purpose-built with accessibility at its heart.

β™Ώ Hydraulic Lift

A hydraulic lift assists wheelchair users aboard with ease, and the toilet and washing facilities are fully designed for disabled passengers.

πŸͺŸ Deep Windows

Deep windows offer a clear, uninterrupted view of the canal scenery throughout the entire journey.

βœ… NHS-Standard Seating

Exceptionally comfortable fixed seating with generous space throughout the cabin for wheelchair users to move freely and access the front deck.

πŸ”Œ Power & Charging

230v power sockets and USB charging points are available throughout the cabin.

πŸ“‹ Who Can Book?

Bookings are accepted on a first come, first served basis, with priority given to disabled users. Advance booking is essential β€” we are unable to offer turn-up-and-pay trips.

πŸ‘₯ Groups

Schools, clubs, care homes, day centres and other organisations are all very welcome.

🏠 Families

Families with a disabled member can book a trip for the whole group.

πŸ™‹ Individuals

Individuals who wish to support our fundraising are also very welcome.

🚒 Passengers & Capacity

πŸ‘₯ Up to 12 Passengers

Including helpers, for half or full day trips. The ratio of helpers to disabled passengers must be determined by the booking party.

β™Ώ Wheelchair Users

A maximum of two wheelchair users can be accommodated at any one time, for reasons of space, safety and comfort.

⚑ Power Chairs

A passenger using a power chair counts as two people due to weight considerations. We appreciate your understanding when making your arrangements.

🐾 Dogs on Board

Unfortunately we are unable to allow dogs on board except in exceptional circumstances. Please do contact us if you have a specific situation to discuss.

β›΅ Our Volunteer Crew

Lady Winifred is crewed entirely by our own trained volunteers. Our skippers are trained to NCBA (National Community Boats Association) standards and are responsible for the safety of the vessel and ensuring all necessary equipment is available for passengers.

Please note that our crew are not trained to assist with disabilities, so group carers or family members are expected to take responsibility for the personal care of their passengers throughout the trip.

🍽️ What’s on Board?

🍳 Kitchen & Dining

Fridge, gas hob, microwave, cooking utensils, standard cutlery, mugs and plates are all provided. All items have been generously donated for the comfort and convenience of our passengers.

♻️ Waste & Recycling

In line with Welsh Government legislation (April 2024), all recyclable waste must be sorted and separated. As the Trust has no facility to do this on board, passengers are kindly asked to take all rubbish home.

πŸŽ’ What to Bring

β˜• Food & Drink

Please bring milk β€” tea, coffee and sugar are provided on board. Passengers are welcome to bring a picnic. The Poachers pub in Gledrid also serves bar snacks and meals.

Passengers who require special cups, cutlery or other eating aids should bring these with them.
